Research Programmer at the University of Arizona

The Network Visualization Group at the University of Arizona is seeking a research programmer for the design, implementation, and testing of a real-time network visualization system. This system will serve as a front-end of a Distributed Intrusion Detection System, deployed in order to rapidly identify network intrusions and to assess their impact on the overall network state.

The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing, testing, validating, and integrating code employing computational geometry and information visualization algorithms within the .NET framework.

The work will be carried out at the University of Arizona, in Tucson, Arizona. The position is available after April 1, 2012 initially for nine months, with the possibility of extension for another 2 or 3 years.

We are looking for a devoted and creative team member able to learn quickly, with an open and collaborative communication style. Strong design, programming (C# or Java), and software testing skills are necessary, as is a comprehensive core computer science/engineering background. Applicants must have a B.S./M.S. in computer science or related field. Industry or previous research programming experience is desirable.
